Westpac released its third Accessibility Action Plan (AAP) on Monday 11th December 2006. The AAP outlines a number of ongoing strategies to continue to improve access to buildings and electronic banking. Some of the new initiatives outlined in the Plan include captioning of consumer information videos, mental health awareness training and redesigning the "queuing" system in refurbished branches. Upon presenting the AAP to Mr Graeme Innes AM, Human Rights Commissioner & Commissioner Responsible for Disability Discrimination, David Morgan CEO of Westpac said, "As a global leader in responsible business practices, we are committed to seeking an environment in which customers with disability have appropriate access to our products and services, and employees are chosen on the basis of the best person for the job, whether that person has a disability or not". Westpac is one of the seven Foundation Charter members of the Australian Employers Network on Disability and has demonstrated a long-term commitment to the employment of people with disability.
