Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) requirements are often perceived as a barrier to employment, but this is generally not the case. This half day seminar will assist Human Resources professionals and OH&S practitioners to manage employment for people wtih disability, and be confident that OH&S requirements are met. It is a common employer misconception that people with disability pose a greater OH&S risk in the workplace than other employees. However, a recent study by the Australian Safety and Compensation Council has illustrated what many Employers' Network members already know - that people with disability are no more likely to be involved in OH&S incidents than any other employee. In fact, research has shown that, on average, people with disability have fewer OH&S incidents and lower workers' compensation costs than employees without disability. This seminar focused on legislation and employment issues and provided an opportunity to hear from eminent speakers on these topics.
