Mental Health Week Launches 5 - 11 October 2008

Sunday October 5: Queensland

Mental Health Week will be launched from 10.30am to 1pm at the Celebration Stage and Lawn, Roma Street Parkland. The Minister for Health, Stephen Robertson, will be officially launching the Week and will be participating in the "Row off for Mental Health" with local celebrities, including players from the Brisbane Lions. Monday October 6: Victoria

Victoria's official launch will take place from 8.30am to 10.15am at Zinc, Federation Square. Minister for Mental Health, the Hon Lisa Neville and former Sydney Swans AFL player Wayne Schwass will attend, along with beyondblue CEO Leonie Young and beyondblue deputy chairman John McGrath. Monday October 6: Northern Territory

The theme for this year's Mental Health Week is "Mental Health - Now for the future". The launch will begin on Monday and continue with a dinner at the Crowne Plaza in Alice Springs on Tuesday and a second dinner on Wednesday night at the Sky City Casino in Darwin. Tuesday October 7: South Australia

The Mental Health Coalition of South Australia is holding a launch at the Festival Theatre Terrace in Adelaide from 9.30am to 11.30am. Tuesday October 7: Tasmania

Wednesday October 8: New South Wales

The Healthy Mind Festival will be held at Martin Place, Sydney, from 12pm to 2pm.

The event will feature a Living Library, the launch of a community art activity, a Leunig cartoon exhibition and speakers Julie McCrossin, Ingrid Poulson and Sandy McGregor. It will also include the presentation of the Mental Health Matters Awards, free massages, lifestyle consultations, information and merchandise stalls, and a 'mental wellbeing' book stall.

Friday October 10 - National World Mental Health Day launch in Canberra
